Duncan Howie MRICS FAAV
Director
Duncan is an experienced land agent, having worked at a national surveying firm for five years before setting up his own consultancy in 2016. He advises landowners, farmers, investors and developers in relation to general rural professional matters including land management and development. He specialises in rural agency, both in the traditional purchase and sale of land as well as being involved in specialist site-finding services for a wide range of developments.
Duncan is involved in the management of a 300 cow autumn calving herd in Shropshire with his wife Sarah, as well as being a partner in his family’s pig and arable business based in Essex.
He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. He is also past chairman of the Royal Agricultural College Student Union, of Essex Federation of Young Farmers Clubs and also the Eastern Area of Young Farmers Clubs.
Duncan enjoys all aspects of the countryside and walking his Labradors Boda and Tissy.
James Haselwood MRICS
Director
James is an experienced land agent, with a focus on identifying strategic land opportunities for residential, commercial and energy sectors. James is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, providing sound and professional property advise to both private and public sector throughout the UK.
James brings with him a wealth of contacts, as well as experience on a range of property matters, specialising in planning and development matters, land sales and acquisitions, valuation, estate management, landlord and tenant matters.
Away from the office, James’s passions are; being amongst good company, spending time in the countryside and The Northampton Saints Rugby Club (when they are winning).
Tom Ashton MRICS
Director
Tom’s experience is focused on specialist site-finding for residential, commercial and renewable energy development projects. Tom has previously worked as Land and Commercial Manager for a residential developer, finding and delivering sites for over 550 homes across Shropshire and Herefordshire.
Tom has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2016 specialising in planning & development. Prior to this he had studied Rural Estate and Land Management at Harper Adams University and during this time he was also chairman and treasurer for his local Young Farmers Club.
When not in the office Tom enjoys working at home on the family farm.
James Stone
Director
James is an experienced developer, having worked in the energy industry since 2011. To date, he has worked on the development of over 1GW of energy projects across solar PV, wind, anaerobic digestion, energy storage and gas to power technologies, gaining extensive experience in progressing developments from site origination through to financial close or sale.
James is highly adept at steering projects through every stage of the development life cycle and will utilise these skills to help deliver Oakfold’s pipeline of projects.
James holds a first-class degree and Masters in Environmental Science and Management from the University of York.
When not in the office James enjoys rugby, football and cricket, though mainly as a spectator now!
